ARTISTEMPOWERED is a growing community of like-minded musicians and artists who want to empower each other to be dynamic contributors to the industry. Our collective desire is to be a resource for the exploration of the creative self and a sustainable professional purpose. As a part of our mission, ARTISTEMPOWERED has designed innovative Instrument Labs. Each Lab is curated with masterclasses and workshops designed to elevate practical skills and to present opportunities to innovate and explore areas beyond what most traditional music training programs provide. Our aim is to be an inclusive and accessible community where we can uplift each other. We look for what is possible in every person and every situation. Each Instrument Lab is designed to cover topics such as nutrition, finance, movement, meditation, instrument buying, entrepreneurship, peak performance, and freelancer etiquette. The Instrument Labs will present new ways for you to explore your passion. Consider it an alternative to the traditional summer festival. Or, even better, consider it the way we as artists can inspire each other and our surrounding world.

Welcome to the ARTISTEMPOWERED community!
My name is Jaya. I created this space to fulfill a dream of mine: to build a joyful community through movement and music. I’m so glad you’re here! You will see plenty of things I care about on the website and in the Instrument Labs: nerdy music stuff, career tips, yoga, and health and wellness content. Did I lose you at nerd stuff? No? Great! You are in the right place!
In navigating my path in the music world, I have worn many hats: performer, educator, arts administrator, manager, and SO MANY more! Bottom line is: I never stopped learning and working to enhance my playing skills. As I look back on my own path, I realized my biggest breakthroughs in playing came as a result of living a more well-rounded life and taking better care of myself! This realization became the genesis of my desire to create the ARTISTEMPOWERED community and Instrument Lab intensives.
I don’t know about you, but outside of my formal degree programs (Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate…yes, I am a Doctor) it was hard for me to find trusted teachers and mentors. Once I started freelancing, I also experienced that it was extremely impractical to take eight weeks off in the middle of the year to travel to a remote place and practice all day…in a small shed in the woods…when you are trying to carve out a place for yourself in the world of the working musician. Hence our schedule to accommodate the realities of the life of a working musician who is still working to level-up their playing!
That is why, as part of the ARTISTEMPOWERED community, I created the Instrument Labs as an alternative to the traditional music festival. The goal is to provide you with unprecedented access to top teachers, as well as to curate informative, engaging seminars educating musicians on creating a sustainable life in music. I cannot wait to share this experience with you!
